Job Hours & Materials

New in version 2.0.0.5 and 2.0.0.6

Once you begin working on an estimate, the Job Hours & Materials page allows you to track actual hours worked and materials purchased for the job.

This is an important part of good record keeping and helps you understand whether a job is staying within budget or trending higher than expected.

Tip:
Regularly updating job hours and materials makes it much easier to spot underbid jobs and improve future estimates.

Accessing the Job Hours & Materials page

Open the estimate you are currently working on, then click the Job Hours & Materials tab.

Entering job hours

Enter the hours worked for each day by clicking directly into the appropriate cell and typing the number of hours.

You do not have to enter hours every day. Many users update hours at the end of the week as long as the totals are accurate.

As hours are entered, the right side of the form automatically updates to reflect current labor costs and overall job totals.

Entering job materials

Below the hours section is the Job Materials area. This is where you record materials purchased for the job.

  1. Select the purchase date
  2. Select the vendor in the Pay To field
  3. Enter a short description of the materials purchased
  4. Enter the total cost
  5. Click Add

When finished entering hours and materials, make sure to save the estimate.

Important:
Vendors only need to be entered once. After that, they will be available in the Pay To dropdown for future jobs.

Why this information matters

Tracking hours and materials provides long-term value beyond the current job.

  • Helps identify underbid estimates
  • Improves accuracy of future production rates
  • Keeps material costs organized and searchable

Job materials entered here will also sync with the Expense Form and appear in the expense register.
